USS Iowa (BB-61) was moved out of the Suisun Reserve Fleet on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, and towed a few miles to the Benicia auto pier where she was docked for the night. The following morning (Fri. 10/28) she resumed her journey to Richmond pushed by four tractor tugs. Iowa will get paint and maintenance in Richmond before she resumes her journey to San Pedro, CA. for permanent museum display in early 2012.
Photos on Thursday were shot from the Martinez Marina pier using telephoto lenses. Friday photos were shot from my fishing vessel using wide angle and telephoto lenses. Crew members were: Lee Scales, Dan Morgan and Ron Strong.
